No, not the Eastenders character but 10 x Molokai to Oahu paddleboard champion and waterman. Respected by the likes of Dave Kalama, Kelly Slater, Joel Parkinson and Rob Machado to name but a few, Jamie is one of the most amazing watermen of our time and we are super excited to hear he is coming to the UK. Equipment demo’s from Starboard, Red Paddle Co, Mistral, Rogue, 404, and SIC (Sandwich Island Composites) aswell as an adventure paddle in Poole Harbour. The country’s finest brands will be displaying many boards for you paddling pleasure. Come along and try out as many as you like!

Schedule

10am – 2.30pm Equipment demo’s

2.30pm – 4.30pm Adventure paddle in Poole Harbour. Grab a board of your choice and join us for a paddle in the stunning Poole Harbour. Paddle route will depend on the weather and tides so we’ll decide on the day.

Where

Banks Road, Sandbanks, Poole (Harbour side, not seafront). Head west along banks road towards the chain ferry and we’ll be opposite the zebra crossing which is just before the main beach carpark. Just look for the flags. Parking available along Banks road or in the beach carpark.

Great pic of James Hardy and I at the BaySUP Frostbite Race Series final. After a very close battle from the outset, I just managed to hold off James in the final few meters (the finish gate is the white buoy in the background). The Starboard Ace 14′ x 25″ in brushed carbon was incredible and without doubt the fastest race board I have ever been on. Thanks to Starboard SUP UK  for the loan of the board

Managed to get out on the Rogue 9’9 this weekend in a very small mediocre swell and I was pretty chuffed at how great this board performed. It’s full blown rail to rail high performance SUPin! It’s stable (I’m 16stone and it was fine) although the conditions were clean so in a little chop it could become unsteady but for lighter riders this wouldn’t be an issue and paddles really well into small swell. The speed you can generate is quite incredible, by pumping down the line and using your paddle to generate speed, you can make it through sections or aim for that part of the lip that you need to smack. It’s a good size for UK waters as it’s not a micro SUP so is good in small conditions but it’s shape gives stacks of performance. Fin config I used was 2+1 with Futures F6 sides and a 7” centre.  Looking forward to trying it as quad and the F6 Quad set up is on its way.

Some good swell on the way this weekend out west so I think it’s time for a road trip
